We set this site up to promote and celebrate the fantastic record shops that you can visit in Manchester today. We hope you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
However, if you want to share your memories and stories of some of your favourite shops of yesteryear then please feel free to add your comments to this page, just as long as you make sure you pay a visit to some of the shops that are still going!
My own personal favourites, Record Peddlar on Swan Street which did a fine line in Factory Records collectibles some of which were so rare you couldn’t buy them..just look at them in a glass case. Powercuts (formerly Yanks) of Chepstow Street which I presume was so named because the vast array of cheap US imports they sold had a corner of the sleeve cut off.
Going even further back, check out the Manchester shops of the 1960s here:

They still do, and 'kids' of all ages should be pleasantly surprised at just how many places in this city they can still buy records from. So this is our one-stop guide to the fantastic record shops of Greater Manchester, from the 'Vinyl Valley' that is Oldham Street in the Northern Quarter, to the windswept streets of Bolton, Lancashire. Browse the menu on the right hand side and go shopping!
