Rochdale might not be an obvious hotbed of culture but in fact it’s not all Gracie Fields and disused Cotton Mills up there. In fact Rochdale has given us acts as diverse as Autechre, The Chameleons, Tractor and the Mock Turtles. There is the obligatory HMV shop in the precinct but it also still has its own interesting record Shop which is well worth a visit and handily located just a brisk walk down the hill from the Railway Station. Rocks Off sells new and Secondhand Vinyl, CDs and DVD’s and lots of Rarities and curiosities, and certainly last time I was in there the staff were friendly and helpful.

They still do, and 'kids' of all ages should be pleasantly surprised at just how many places in this city they can still buy records from. So this is our one-stop guide to the fantastic record shops of Greater Manchester, from the 'Vinyl Valley' that is Oldham Street in the Northern Quarter, to the windswept streets of Bolton, Lancashire. Browse the menu on the right hand side and go shopping!
